“…and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:16b)
First Steps in Music at St. Paul is an early childhood music and movement program for infants through 4-year-olds, using a curriculum designed by early childhood music expert Dr. John Feierabend, Professor Emeritus of Music Education at The Hartt School of the University of Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut.
If we have enough students, we will offer separate classes for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
- Classes for infants and toddlers include bounces, wiggles, tickles, dancing, songs, circle games, and lullabies. Caregivers will learn how to continue this musical play at home as they leave each week.
- Preschool age children (3-4yrs) will engage in an eight-part musical workout that includes pitch exploration, song fragments, simple songs, arioso, song tale, movement exploration, movement for form and expression, and movement with the beat.
