Intro to Sculpting in Clay
- No experience necessary
- For the first class, demonstration on basic techniques and some practice exercises will be given
- In all subsequent classes participants will choose their own subject matter
- Participants will receive guidance and individual demonstrations pertinent to their sculpting
- The fired sculptures will not be glazed but may be given a faux patina that resembles bronze
- The white clay used will not be impervious to water but of the kind seen in Mexican clay pots
- Students are asked to purchase their own set of wooden sculpting tools ($8.99 from Amazon)
- The fee for other supplies and firing is included in tuition.
Parameters:
- Minimum age – 12
- Maximum of number of students – 12
- Term length – 6 weeks
- Class length – Three hours (18 hours of instruction)
Class Schedule – Saturday 9:30a-12:30p OR Wednesday 10:00a-1:00p (to be determined by the majority of registrants’ availability)
- Session 1 begins the week of February 2
- Session 2 begins the week of March 24 (no class the week of April 13-20)
